Gryffin rushed into the room. He focused his attention on the battle, refusing to look at the dead townsfolk scattered on the floor. He knew some of these people and felt a pang of rage inside him. It could have been one of his parents lying dead here!
The curse he had placed on the creatures was working slowly. They were distracted and disorganized.
Working with magic came naturally for him. It was probably because of his eladrin heritage. While he had some formal training on the theories and fundamentals of magic, Gryffin was mostly self taught. There were a few wizardly journals scattered around Sandpoint, most of them were outdated manuals in his adopted father's collection. The language and the formulas came easy to him. What Gryffin could not dicipher from the books, he improvised.
Wary of snipers, Gryffin scampered behind a work table. He saw Jarek shoot down the goblin Kythan was engaged with. The burly creature was still standing despite the warriors attack.
Gryffin took a couple of deep breaths as he summoned up his strength for another enchantment.
"I hope this hits." Gryffin muttered to himself.
He felt the eldritch power course through his body, pulsing like the beating of his own heart. He raised his hand, pointing over the goblin and uttered an arcane syllable. Silver energy lept from the eladrin's finger, striking the goblin dead.
