Led by Arao, the group inquires with the old woman as to whether she has seen Ameiko or Tsuto recently.
“I haven’t seen Ameiko since the festival a couple of days ago.” She politely answers. “And as for Tsuto, I haven’t heard from him since Lonjiku sent him away some years ago. Is that boy supposed to be back?”
“How about last night?” Arao asks, avoiding the question presented to them. “Anything out-of-the-ordinary happening in the glassworks? You know, like dogs suddenly silent, or a scream perhaps?”
"Nothing strange.” The old lady answers, “just the chimney has been smoking all night. Has happened before, of course. The old guy isn't exactly the easiest to work for. He drives those boys hard, and barks at their wives if they ever come round. He locks that door when he has a big order, and lets his men out when it is done. Saying that, he pays well. REAL WELL for this town and none of his lads will have a bad word said about him. I saw one of them punch someone once in a pub for calling the old crank a 'slave driver'. You'll probably see someone come out in the next hour or two to go fetch some food. That's normally how it works!"
Then she stops, scratches her chin for a bit.
"Why you asking? Have you heard something.... bad?"
"Nothing like that," Gryffin interjects "We are simply looking for a friend."
Arao then leads the group towards the building at the northern part of the glassworks. Jarek explains that the building is called The House of Blue Stones. Gryffin further explains that it is a monastery and meditation place for followers of Ioun. He knows about the place since his father, the sage, brings him here to borrow some of the books in the library located below the house. The long stone building is primarily a single large chamber, the floor decorated with polished blue stones set within winding pathways of reed mats. Before getting far into, they are greeted by a female monk whom Gryffin briefly introduces as Sabyl Sorn, the daughter of the monk who created the establishment and now the current caretaker of the House.
After introductions, Arao promptly asks the monk the same questions he asked the old lady but the caretaker couldn’t supply any addition info as she was occupied with meditation services since last night.
