As Arao began to regain consciousness, Guy muttered a silent prayer to Corellon, thanking the fae god for showering his blessings upon his friends. The eladrin priest signalled Jarek to take over, instructing the woodsman on how to close the wounds caused by the sinspawn's poisonious claws.
"Make sure you clean it up properly," Guy repeated. "We don't want him to get infected."
"Yes, I know what I'm doing," the woodsman muttered impatiently. "I learned this from Shalelu."
Guy nodded and left Jarek to do his work. "Corellon is kind to us today," he whispered to himself.
Despite all the recent attacks, he and his companions have managed to emerge victorious. And it was mostly due to his healing skills, and Corellon's blessings. This was a sign that the fae god was on his side. How else would he explain the healing miracles? The other eladrin priests considered Guy a heretic, preaching the word of Corellon to non-fae. They even sent an enforcer out to catch him. But
the grace of Corellon is not for the eladrins' alone. It was Guy's mission to evangelize the barbarians and the non believers.
"What do we do next?" Gryffin asked the priest. With the paladin injured, the burden of leadership suddenly fell to Guy.
"Wait till the paladin recovers," Guy answered. "In the meantime, we catch our breaths and rest." The wizard nodded and began to study the decaying bodies of the sinspawns.
Guy brought out two lavander candles from his pouch. The priest offered a simple prayer to Corellon and lit the candles, putting them on the floor.
"What are you doing?" Jarek muttered from the corner of the room. "This is no time to make camp fires."
"Shut up, Jarek!" Lloyd muttered. The half elf was watching the priest intently. "He is performing a sacred rite."
Taking a couple of deep breaths, Guy closed his eyes and slowly chanted an elvish hymm.
"O Lord Corellon, master of untamed wilds
Dancing God, Singing Lord
From which existence revolves in your delicate symphony
Call your blessed servants
Beckon the beasts to your bidding
Spread your grace upon us all...."
Opening his eyes, Guy saw a small brown rat standing in between the two candles. It was an ugly little rodent, with crooked whiskers and a long bent tail. The priest recoiled from the sight of the ugly vermin. The prayer was supposed to call upon a servant of Corellon and it summoned this rat.
This must be Corellon's lesson to me, Guy thought. Ugly little vermins are also the fae god's creation. And they can be useful servants as well. The eladrin priest knelt down and touched the head of the brown rodent. The create stood relaxed, as if it was entraced by some majestic presence.
Guy quickly muttered a series of incantations, calling upon the power of Corellon to impart a brief message in to the rat that recounts the sinspawns presence way beneath the glassworks factory, and deliver it to Father Zanthanus.
