DM: Listen Checks

Gryffin moves first to the metal door set in the northern wall. Listening at the door reveals the sound of crude bickering, hissing, and scuffling. It does not sound human, and the noise is distant. Perhaps more Sinspawn, or other creatures, are having an argument within the room beyond.

The eladrin mutters a "shush" as he brings his hand to his lips in a sign for silence and then motions for everyone to listen to the door..

Nothing could be understood from the hushed voices from within the room. Gryffin guesses that the speakers are using ancient Thassilonian.

"Does it sound like a Sinspawn?"Gryffin asked as he continued to listen. "I mean it would be possible to compare if we heard the ones we fought talk..but they didn't right?"

"Hard to tell." Lloyd answered. "The door's muffling the sounds."

"Maybe we ought to retreat back to a more .. defensible position." Guy suggested.

"I say we have the element of surprise." The eladrin wizard countered. "How many voices do you distinguish?"

"The sounds..." Guy whispered. "No chance of them being prisonners? More captured townsfolks?"

"Hmm..ancient Thassilonian prisoners who've been experimented on.." Gryffin deduced. "They'd most likely be very insane by now.."

"So what's the plan?" Lloyd asks as he turns back towards his party companions.
