Lloyd; Into the Jaws of Darkness, End Round

At the dragonborn’s suggestion, Lloyd stood guard at the cave’s entrance as his companions took take of their wounds. He occasionally looked back into the cave to check up on how they were doing.

It was a good thing that Guy joined them. The eladrin cleric’s healing spells were much of a boon to them. He was now taking care of the dragonborn’s wounds with the help of Jarek whom he patched up earlier.

Speaking of which, something seems to be eating Jarek. It’s like he’s in a funk or something. He’s been like that since the glasswork goblin attack. Just exactly what happened back there?

A flicker of light caught Lloyd’s attention. Gryffin’s mage hand/light spell was turning a corner and was almost out of sight.

It would seem that the corridor’s heading north were clear of any more creatures.

Lloyd turned to mention this to Griffin and found the eladrin wizard checking the Sinspawn corpses and taking down notes on a small journal.

“Gryffin,” the half-elf called. “How long can you sustain the light spell?”

“Almost indefinitely.” The eladrin wizard answered without even looking up from his writing.

"Good, we'll be using your light spell as our light source from here on then." Lloyd nodded as another noise drew his attention. He spotted two rats running off towards the tunnels they came from.

“Ignore them.” Gryffin once more stated. “We’re sending word back thru town via the rats.”

Having no training in matters arcane, Lloyd followed and let the vermins go.

“We’re good to go.” Arao stated as he moved up beside Lloyd. The dragonborn paladin seems to be back into shape.

I can’t believe he survive that attack. I was pretty sure we were gonna lose him. So much death has already happened these last few days.

“Are we clear?” The dragonborn asked as he tried to look past the darkness but his eyes aren’t as sharp as those of the half-elf.

“Gryffin’s spell made it past the corner and nothing seems to have attacked it. I'm assuming if there were anything out there the light would have drawn them out.” Lloyd answered.

“We found the guard’s body as what we originally meant to do.” The half-elf warrior continued as he mentioned to now covered body in the rear of the cave.

“We could easily go back and report to the Mayor what we’ve found but with the appearance of the Sinspawns, there might be something else that threatens the town. I would rather be sure if there’s another threat. I would prefer we check this out rather than be blindsided by whatever lies down here. Who knows, maybe the goblin attack and whatever is in these tunnels are connected.”

“But I won’t risk anyone’s life without their consent. So if you guys think we’re better off going back to town then so be it. Otherwise, I suggest we check out the tunnels as far as we can go.”
